Is this okay to do now, now that it's been that long? Because the black is showing my roots by about 2 inches at the top but I can't dye my hair the light brown color I want because it won't take over the black.I want to strip the black hair color from hair to dye it a lighter color, but I have a perm, I've waited 3 mos?
You should really get it done professionally. This is too risky to try on your own. You can run the risk of your hair falling out. Don't forget to tell the hairstylist what you put in your hair and the last time you put it in.I want to strip the black hair color from hair to dye it a lighter color, but I have a perm, I've waited 3 mos?
Okay, here it goes.
1. Get some powdered bleach and 20 volume developer from Sally's beauty supply.
2. some liquid dish soap (crazy I know).
3. Mix bleach w/ developer about 1:1 to paste consistency
4. Mix the two with water equal parts: 1/3 bleach paste, 1/3 dish soap, 1/3 water.
5. Pre-shampoo and rinse with clarifying shampoo (or just add a little dish soap.
6. On damp hair apply on colored area to lift.
7. comb through.
8. go under dryer for 10-15 minutes or just let it set for 20 minutes.
9. shampoo out and condition (use light leave-in conditioner).
10. When you first go to Sally's beauty supply also get a demi color w/ developer level 6N (mixed usually 1:1) place it on dry hair and comb through.
11. Wait 20-25 minutes and Shampoo condition.
*Note: This will work, but it's unusually better to go to a salon. If you are strapped for cash. This is the answer. For this service if yo mess it up it won't cost you any more to try. Call me if need be(949)8728768. Robert
Stop perming, that is the answer.
believe me you will be thankful when you are older.
I know old women who have been permed their hair for 30 years and their hair is destroyed and thinning.
(also the chemicals used are cancerous agents)
You can try a bit of Dawn and shampoo.

You can do it but I'm going to say only professionally since I don't know what you know about chemical services.
